Brand History: A Family Affair
The origins of A. Link & Co. date back to 1894 when Mr. Adolph Link, son of a Viennese goldsmith, came to New York City. Growing up on New York’s Lower East Side, he met the youngest daughter of a rabbi, Anna, whom he married in 1912. Adolph apprenticed as a platinum jeweler with Cartier and Van Cleef & Arpels. But it was his wife’s diligent work that enabled him to purchase raw gold and platinum to fabricate his own designs along with Fifth Avenue’s greatest craftsmen.
In the early 1940’s Adolph’s two sons joined their father in his business: Seymour became a jeweler and Marvin apprenticed as a diamond cutter in Antwerp. It is from these two trades that A. Link derived its reputation as a dealer in the finest diamonds and as a manufacturer of traditional diamond jewelry.
Currently managed in their U.S. office by the founder’s grandson, Jeffrey Link, and his business partner Douglas Sills, A. Link continues to supply the finest jewelry retailers worldwide.
Signature Style
A. Link achieves its excellence by utilizing diamonds of a consistent quality and size. Known as the “60/60” because the table and depth percentages are virtually the same, these diamonds maximize diameter and weight, emitting optimal brilliance.
One of the most desired pieces in the collection, and what has come to be known as the centerpiece of the brand, is the Diamond Opera Necklace. It is a 34-inch strand of diamonds that is detachable into two cascading necklaces, thus allowing it to be worn as four different looks.
A. Link is also renowned for The Lattice Collection – bracelets, earrings and bands where the diamonds take center stage in mountings that show the maximum surface of the precious gems. This keen attention to detail and style consideration is what continues to propel A. Link as a master in the diamond jewelry world.
Design Inspiration
For over 100 years, A. Link jewelry collections have been designed with one guiding characteristic: make the diamonds perform. With their brand mantra of ‘The Beauty is in the Brilliance’®, A. Link’s belief is that tailored lines partnered with top-quality diamonds is always in fashion.
New and Notable
This year, A.Link debuted a new collection called Luminous®. The collection’s design features several small diamonds set together in an invisible, tension mounting. This gives the appearance of a single, solitaire diamond, but for a fraction of a solitaire’s cost.
In addition, A. Link became an authorized supplier of jewelry that showcases Forevermark® diamonds from DeBeers. The diamonds will be featured in classic A. Link items, as well as new exclusive designs for A. Link for Forevermark®.
Focused Initiatives
A. Link for Forevermark® is where the brand will expand and concentrate its marketing initiatives, including a charitable endeavor benefitting The Wounded Warrior Project during the month of May, 2012. A. Link is also proud to announce its membership title with American Gem Society this coming year.
