Tell us about you store.
Kientzy & Company is a high end jewelry store located across from the beautiful Seagate Hotel in downtown Delray Beach, Florida, since 1982. We feature designer lines such as Oscar Heyman Bros. and Gemveto, as well as fashion forward lines like Mazza & Co. and Asch Grossbardt. We are also a full service jewelry store specializing in high grade watch and jewelry repair, as well as redesigns of jewelry.
What are your customers looking for at the moment? Do you notice any trends?
Our customers are looking for ‘good value’ these days. As a result, we carry a cross section of brands in different price ranges, as well as have created a strong estate department with vintage jewelry and watches.
What are your thoughts about 2011, especially as we head into the 4th quarter? Is business up? Steady? What do you think you can attribute that to? What kind of Holiday do you anticipate?
2011 is still a recovery year. Since the financial debacle in 2007-08, all businesses are in recovery mode. As time goes by, we are all adjusting to new metal and stone prices. Business is fairly steady and slightly up from the past 2 years. This is our new ‘normal’.
Why do you feel the PPOM initiative is important for retailers? Why did you feel it was important to sign up? Why now?
The PPOM allows retailers to develop stronger partnerships with brands and establish a long working relationship with them.
Has being part of the Prestige Promenade Online Marketplace (PPOM) improved your business? If so, how?
At this point, PPOM must be looked at as an advertising vehicle with more customers using the internet than ever before. Customers can ‘shop’ with us even before they enter our store.
Does your site have e-commerce? Or are you considering e-commerce at this point?
Yes, we currently have e-commerce on our website and are working to further develop it in the future.
